Assignment #3

A. Halogen light was set up on the right side of the subject with large diffusion paper in front (diffuse reflection). Silver reflector was held on the left side of the subject (specular reflection / angle of incident).

B. Subject sat close to the wall. Halogen light was set up on a boom arm close to the floor between the wall and the subject. A mirror was held in front of the subject facing up from the floor towards his neck and chin (specular reflection / angle of incident).

C. Halogen light was setup from the side slightly above the subject's head with diffusion paper. Silver reflector was set up on the opposite side to bounce the light towards the wall and the back of the subject's head (specular reflection / angle of incident).

D. Subject sat on a stool not very close nor very far from the wall to create a grey background (inverse square law). Light was set up 2 ft. off the ground directly in front of the subject with black foil covering bottom half of the light source (light gradiation the further the distance).

E. Subject sat on a stool not very far from the wall to create a white background (inverse square law). The halogen light hung from a boom arm high up above the subject's head on her right. A silver reflector was held below to add light under her neck and chin (specular reflection / angle of incident).

F. Subject sat very far away from the wall on a stool to create a black background (inverse square law). The halogen light hung from a boom arm to the right of her but was pushed down close to the floor in order for the light to shine upward. A large piece of black foil was wrapped around the light in the shape of a small cylinder to create the effect of a spotlight below the face (light travels in a straight line). The light was moved around until we got a balanced shot of her looking devilish.
